Notepad New Tab does not collect, transmit, store on any server, or share any user data. There is no backend. Everything you type stays inside your own browser profile.
What the extension stores, and where
Your notes — their titles, filenames, contents and version history — are written to
localStorage for the extension's own new-tab page. Your preferences
(theme, font, layout, panel sizes, world-clock cities) are stored the same way.
That storage belongs to your browser profile on this device. It is not synced by the extension, not backed up by the extension, and not readable by the developer or any third party. Uninstalling the extension, or clearing site data for it, deletes all of it permanently — so export anything you want to keep first.
What the extension sends over the network
Nothing that you create. The extension makes no API calls, has no analytics or telemetry,
embeds no tracking pixels, and loads no remote code. It declares no
host_permissions, so it cannot read or modify any website you visit.
The new-tab page does request three web fonts for its own interface — Manrope, IBM Plex Mono and Material Symbols — from Google Fonts. Those are ordinary font-file requests made by your browser; they carry no note content and no identifier created by this extension. Google's handling of such requests is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Permissions, and exactly why each is requested

No other permissions are requested. In particular the extension does not use
storage, tabs, history, bookmarks,
cookies, downloads, or any host permission.
Clipboard
The Paste button reads your clipboard only at the moment you click it, and only to insert that text into the note you have open. Clipboard contents are never stored separately or transmitted. The extension never reads the clipboard on its own.
Files you export and import
Export writes a file to your own machine through Chrome's normal download flow. Import reads a file you choose. Neither step involves a network request or any third party.
Children
The extension collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, because it collects no personal information at all.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes what the extension accesses, this page will be updated and the version and date above will change with it. Every permission the extension requests is listed on its Chrome Web Store page, which Google reviews before each release.
